FAQ
a: tattooing is: a) a sacred practice connected to my ancestry b) a very challenging craft, and c) a medium that encourages me to create freely. it’s something i do to create kinship, connection, and hopefully facilitate healing.
tattooing is an exercise in trust, communication, and nerve. more and more i find myself showing up for that experience.
it’s a strange, but worthwhile shift for me to go from persuing a career path that does everything it can to ameliorate people’s pain to causing pain in others for pleasure.
when tattooing is at its best it’s a fusion of all these things - pain, connection, relief, grounding, elevation. ︎
a: my minimum is $200(not including community flash)
i quote each piece with a sliding scale depending on size, detail, and placement. after the first hour, i use $150-200/hr for flash, and $200-250/hr for customs as a benchmark. if you'd like a quote please submit a booking form here.
custom projects start at $300.
full day sessions (4+ hrs of tattooing) are capped at $900.
a: yes. i accept weekly, biweekly, or monthly installments leading up to the appointment. the cost of the tattoo must be paid in full on the day of the appointment.
as a queer non-binary artist, my goal is to make my work as accessible as possible, especially to QTBIPOC community members.
you being honest about your budget and paying full price or extra is what allows me to use a much lower rate for people who can’t afford my regular rate. so please be honest.
︎
a: i require a $100 nonrefundable deposit that's applied to the final cost of your tattoo, and can be applied to one reschedule as long as you notify me 48+ hours in advance AND reschedule within 7 days. but! if you have to cancel outright, you won't be able to get your deposit back. ︎
if you have to reschedule more than once i will ask you to put down a new deposit and forfeit your previous deposit.
please avoid no call no showing. i’d rather you communicate ANYTHING to me than leave me hanging. ghosting means i probably won't tattoo you in the future. ︎
a: my flash lives in various sketchbooks, this online flashbook, and is frequently updated via IG highlights. flash is repeatable, priority is given to new designs during booking.
my minimum is $200 (not including community flash)
i quote each piece with a sliding scale flat rate depending on size, detail, and placement. after the first hour, i use $150-200/hr as a benchmark for flash. i.e. a two hour flash would be ~$350-400, three hours would be ~$5000-600. if you'd like a quote please submit a booking form here.
my designs are informed by, and may contain, turkish and/or vietnamese symbols, motifs, or themes...please form a relationship with these concepts before approaching me for a tattoo depicting them. i'd love to connect with you on this, just keep in mind that my culture is something to be shared and celebrated, not used as a fashion statement. ︎
a:
i’m so down for customs! i will do my best to capture the essence of what you’re envisioning and render it in my style, drawing inspiration from several sources, so please be open to this creative process.
custom projects start at $300. after the first hour, i use $200-250/hr as a benchmark for customs. i.e. a two hour custom would be ~$500-550, three hours would be ~$700-800.
full day sessions (4+ hrs of tattooing) are capped at $900.
a: unfortunately, my schedule does not allow for me to draw very far in advance of our appointment. i usually draw the night before, but there will be time for redraws or edits at your appointment.
i do want to get on the same page with you so that we're both happy about the design, so if your design is especially large/complex, we will likely collaborate over a few drafts ahead of time. please respect my time and effort.
a:nope. i will only tattoo things i have drawn. i'm usually open to creating something similar to, or influenced by, what you're wanting, so feel free to ask. the only exception to this is if you provide proof of this artist's explicit written consent
a: anything bigoted and/or words, phrases, or imagery from a language or culture that you don't speak or that don't belong to you.
a: currently i'm interested in tattooing geometric textile-influenced patterns, halftone renderings of both abstract shapes and found objects, blackwork illustrations of flora and fauna, and larger scale body-scapes/freehand projects.
i will almost always agree to tattoo a twisted, surrealist, horrorific creature. i use mostly black and grey, with minimal color. if you arn't comfortable with this, that's okay! i just may not be the artist for you at this time. generally my flash gives a good insight into the types of designs i'm currently marinating on. definitely look there before looking at what i've already done! ︎
a: probably not. but send me an email and i'll see what i can do...
a: yes! i will happily touch up a tattoo that i've done for free within 1 year of its completion. there are so many variables that effect how a tattoo heals, especially large color packed areas, hands, feet, face, or thicker/more calloused areas. i want you to feel happy with your tattoo(s). ︎
no two bodies react to, or heal from, tattoos the same. sometimes instead of overworking an area i'll wait to do it another time. we can always go back and add more; blowouts and scarring arn't so easy to fix. all i can do is try my best to learn from how the intital tattoo heals, which is why i really value feedback! plssssss send healed photos in the daytime. ︎
a: everyone prepares for and reacts to tattoos differently, so unless you're getting a large piece, i generally suggest drinking plenty of water, eating prior to our appointment and resting properly before and afterward.
for larger pieces, it’s critical that you prioritize the following:
1. don't do anything to stress your body beforehand. no donating blood, benders, long camping trips, marathons, or things like that. you need to be well rested, well hydrated, and well fed to maximize your tolerance to discomfort.
2. being hydrated is not a one day thing, it takes a few days to become fully hydrated. this is also true for sleeping, so get into a rhythm. this applies to both before and after your appointment.
3. let yourself rest for at least a day afterwards. this is your excuse to just sit at home and let the tattoo breathe. rest can be difficult for the restless, but in doing nothing, you are doing everything. the better you take care of your body the better the tattoo will heal.
4. avoid wearing any tight or abrasive clothing, bag straps, etc where it’s peeling. also try to be aware of where your skin bends/folds if you’re going to be sitting for long periods of time. excessive rubbing or sweating is a no-go for a peeling tattoo.
a: tipping is certainly always appreciated, but never expected! if you want to tip me with something non-monetary, art/tattoo books, ceramics, skillshares, and skulls/molted snake skins warm my heart. :)
